BRONTE FLY FISHING SCHOOL

The course commences at 2:00PM Sunday, January 9th, 2010 and will end at approximately 11:00AM Friday, January 14th and is held at Hut Bay, Bronte Lagoon (see map attached). Participants are also requested to collect their course registration packs from the main marquee between 12:00PM and 1:30PM on the Sunday.

Course Subjects Covered:
Safety Fly Construction / Tying Demonstration
Casting Theory Entomology
Casting Practical Tackle Selection

A formal syllabus/timetable will be handed out as part of the course registration pack but we have enclosed a sample syllabus with this letter. As this is a sample only and subject to change, there is NO need to bring it with you. From the syllabus, you will see that formal activities commence at 9:00AM (apart from Thursday which commences at 8:30AM) and run until 5:00PM daily with rest periods throughout the day. Your co-operation in making sure you are on time for sessions is requested; the days are full and need to run to the schedule to ensure we are able to adequately cover the course content.
It is recommended that each student bring a comfortable fold up chair for use at meetings and theory components of the course and possibly some note taking material; though some sections have corresponding handouts.
It must be stressed that this school is a tutorial event and that it is not a fishing expedition. On saying this, there are normally fishing periods most days. Every effort will be made to ensure that novices get the opportunity to go fishing with more experienced anglers during the camp. There are also ample opportunities to go fishing before and after the day’s formal activities.
We have also enclosed a glossary of some of the terms which are likely to be used during the course to enable you to familiarise yourself with them prior to commencement of the course. It is recommended that you DO bring the glossary with you.

You can now buy a License or renew your existing full season License (using your renewal form) on line, and you can purchase a replacement License or change details on an angling License.
Rod, Reel, Floating Line, Fishing Tackle
(NB: if you are a complete novice it might be to your advantage to borrow a rod if possible or purchase a balanced outfit from a reputable tackle shop, probably something in the 6 weight, 9ft. category) as rod and tackle selection are part of the course and will help you understand rod sizes and uses.

If you are unsure of what flies are needed, high quality flies are available for purchase at the school.
